The Jesus Inquest - A Book Review

The Jesus Inquest
The Case For and Against the Resurrection of the Christ
By Charles Foster
Published by Thomas Nelson
352pp

In this book, The Jesus Inquest, author Charles Foster presents both sides of the debate for and against the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as both barrister X and Y.  In the end he is more convinced that Jesus is real, that He did rise again, and that Jesus lives to offer forgiveness and hope to all who come to Him.

Interesting as the challenges were, I was not looking for, nor did this book do anything to challenge my faith - as I have a strong belief in my faith.  However, it did reawaken questions I already harbored. The reason this particular book did not hold my attention as I had wished, was simple - I found it to be somewhat too clinical in nature, which would be perhaps more beneficial for someone involved in biblical studies.  It made me feel as if I were at a seminary studying for a Masters in ministry.  But this book does have the possibility to stimulate, inform, and provoke readers.

I could only recommend this book to individuals who are considering religious studies, but as far as anyone looking for a recreational read - I definitely could not.
